Established in 1972 Dalit Panthers, a resistance group that emerged from the Dalit Buddhist movement used threats, self-defense, and often violence to evade atrocities faced by the Dalit community. In 2014, Chandrashekhar Azad created Bhim Army, a prominent Dalit organization in India that strives to combat casteism and Dalit upliftment with a focus on education, empowerment and non violence.
